Festive TV Channel Launching In September

With summer barely coming to an end and two months to go until Halloween, you’re probably not even beginning to consider Christmas.

But there’s one group of people who most certainly are – the people behind the Sony Movies Christmas channel, which is launching in the UK at the start of September.

The Metro revealed that the new channel, which will be available on Freeview, Sky, Virgin and Freesat, will play Christmas movies every day from its launch on 10 September right up until the end of the festive season.

Among the films set to appear on the channel are Holiday Road Trip, Christmas With The Kranks, and Defending Santa.

The newspaper also noted that there will be themed festive film weekends on the channel too, with the themes including Bah Humbug!, Christmas Animals, Christmas Comedy and Santa Sunday – we can all hazard a guess as to some of the movies likely to feature in each of those categories.

Sony is also launching Sony Movies and Sony Action at the same time, so it’s not only the festive channel that will grace your screens from September.

If your TV signal isn’t the best, call in the professionals to take a look at your TV aerials and make sure they’re in good working order.

How well the Christmas movie channel will do remains to be seen, especially given that figures from Ofcom earlier this year showed that more and more households are relying on subscription video on-demand services for their TV viewing. In fact, half of UK households now subscribe to one such service.
